Questions families ask
When is Thanksgiving 2026, and when are the turkey trots?
Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, 2026. Of the 69 Ohio races with 2026 details posted, 57 run on Thanksgiving morning and 12 run on the weekend before or the Friday or Saturday after (Gobble, Wobble, and Run for West!, Nov 21, Gobbler 5K, 10K & Half (Beavercreek), Nov 21, Johnstown, Alexandria & Granville Turkey Trot, Nov 21, NHS Alumni Association Turkey Trot 5K, Nov 21, Springfield Turkey Trot, Nov 21, Toledo Roadrunners Turkey Trot Prediction Run, Nov 22, Heroes Gobble Gallop, Nov 27, Leftover Run, Nov 27, Cincinnati Turkey Trot Half Marathon, 10K & 5K, Nov 28, Columbus Hungry Turkey Trot, Nov 28, Dayton Turkey Trot Half Marathon & 5K, Nov 28 and Gobbler 5K, 10K & Half (Chillicothe), Nov 28). 3 of the 69 say "Thanksgiving" on their 2026 pages without printing a calendar date.
What time do Ohio turkey trots start?
Among the 56 Thanksgiving Day races with posted start times, the first adult start ranges from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. The most common is 9:00 AM (28 races), and 26 have an adult event starting before 9 AM. Kids' runs have their own start times; check each race's schedule.
Which Ohio turkey trots have a kids' run?
21 of the 57 Thanksgiving Day races with 2026 details list a separate kids' run or tot trot, including Bexley Turkey Trot, Bryan YMCA Turkey Trot & Gobble Wobble, Burn Boot Camp Worthington Turkey Trot, Dave's Turkey Chase 5K, Delaware Turkey Trot, Eastside Turkey Trot 5K, Flying Feather Four Miler and Hamilton Turkey Trot. Use the "Kids' run" filter above to see them all with their start times.
Can I bring a stroller or a dog?
Only some races say. Of the 69 races with 2026 details, 13 say strollers are allowed (several ask you to start at the back) and 10 allow dogs on at least one event: Johnstown, Alexandria & Granville Turkey Trot (dogs welcome), Cleveland Turkey Trot (dogs ok, start at the back), Delaware Turkey Trot (leashed dogs ok), Eastside Turkey Trot 5K (leashed dogs ok), Fleet Feet's Mason Turkey Trot (leashed dogs ok), Granville Turkey Trot (dogs welcome), Race for Grace 5K (dogs on the 1-mile walk only), Turkey-Wanis 5K (dogs welcome), Tuscarawas County YMCA Turkey Trot (dogs welcome) and WRC Turkey Trot 5K (leashed dogs ok). 6 say no pet dogs on the course; some of those welcome service animals. If a card doesn't mention strollers or dogs, the race didn't say, so ask the race before you go.
How much does a turkey trot cost in Ohio?
As posted on October 12, 2026, adult 5K entry fees ran from $7 to $50, with a median of $35. Many races raise the price as race day gets closer; each card lists the posted price steps. Free entry is posted for the 1 Mile Walk at Race for Grace 5K and Thanks For Giving 4 Miler (their registration lists the fee as $0). Where a card says "Price not posted", the race hadn't posted a fee.
What about Cincinnati's Thanksgiving Day Race?
The Western & Southern Thanksgiving Day Race's 10K page calls this year's 10K its 117th running, "one of the longest continuously held road races in the United States." The race lists TQL Stadium as its start and finish on Thanksgiving morning. Events: 10K at 9:00 AM, 5K at 9:15 AM and Kids' run (1/4 mile) at 8:30 AM.
Is the Cleveland Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving 2026?
Yes. The Cleveland Turkey Trot lists Thursday, November 26, 2026, starting at Cleveland Public Auditorium. Events: 5 miles at 9:30 AM, 5K at 9:30 AM and 1 mile at 8:45 AM.

The race says this year is its 40th anniversary. The Original Columbus Turkey Trot is one of 17 central Ohio races with 2026 details on our list (18 including races still showing 2025 details).
Can I register on race morning?
